Should your child wear a coat in their car seat?

This story from the Washington Post discusses a segment from the “Today” show that showed car crash tests and how children with puffy winter coats would be thrown from their car seats due to the fact that the car seat could not be properly tightened if the child is wearing a coat.

This particular article contends that it is actually safer to have at least some kind of coat on your child in their car seat as the danger they would face in an accident may not be being thrown from the car seat but rather being exposed to inclement weather.

There are some strong arguments on both sides in the article.  What do you think?
