My 11 year old plays Clash of Clans on a very locked down iPod. By chance my older son “told on him” by telling me that he had joined a clan in which he was chatting with a “girl” who had admired his moves in the game and began complimenting him and saying that she like him. I was able to short circuit the conversation before his innocence revealed personal information like his address or something else. He is no longer allowed to join a clan unless I approve of it and the only ones he is allowed to join are those with this brother and cousin.
It is very scary and sobering to think that strangers access to your child is a click away.
